Hiding Unwanted Text - Excel Tips

Excel Tips from Xlteq - Hiding unwanted text

If you want to hide just a small section of the worksheet and not the whole row or column you can easily hide the text by changing the text colour to be the same as the background colour. Simply highlight the text and click the font button on the toolbar.

Alternatively, if you do not want to change the colours of your spreadsheet, you can change the number format to three semicolons ‘;;;’.

Highlight the text, right-click and choose ‘Format Cells’ from the menu. Select the ‘Custom’ option and type three semicolons ‘;;;’ into the text box and confirm by clicking ‘OK’.

In each of these cases, the text isn’t visible, but you can still refer to values of cells in formulas.
